ABOUT

Swaan Miller designs and produces jewelry and small sculpture. Simple lines dominate her work, inspired by both machine made architectural forms as well as objects from nature. She was born into a creative household, her father a musician and fine wood worker and her mother a Dutch metalsmith. Growing up in the woods of New Hampshire in a house built by her parents (yes with their own hands!), Swaan was constantly surrounded by beauty, whether it was the natural landscape she lived in, or the contemporary European décor and design choices that went into the building of her childhood home. This influence can be seen in her work, a journey in simple, sometimes hard lines, that are comfortable and elegant for the wearer. Her first introduction to metalsmithing was at Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco and from there she went on to obtain her BFA in metal arts from the University of Washington, Seattle.
